Sheet vinyl (cushion vinyl or contract vinyl) is a continuous roll of PVC flooring, typically 2 m or 4 m wide. Its defining property is seamlessness — a fitted room has no joints for water, dirt or bacteria to enter. It's the go-to for commercial kitchens, healthcare, education, and any domestic room where cost and hygiene matter more than the wood-plank look.

FAQs

• Is vinyl roll the same as LVT?

  No. Both are vinyl, but rolls are continuous sheets (typically 2/3/4 m wide) while LVT is individual planks or tiles. Rolls are seamless and cheaper; LVT looks more premium and lifts individually.

• Can I install sheet vinyl over tiles?

  Yes, provided the grout lines are less than 3 mm deep and filled with self-levelling compound. Otherwise the pattern telegraphs through.

• How do I hide a seam in a big room?

  Commercial installs use a hot-air-welded seam rod that fuses the sheets into a single continuous surface. Domestic seams are usually placed under kitchen units or along a natural sight line.

• Is sheet vinyl good for a wet room?

  Yes — with R10+ slip rating and coved up the wall to a proper tanked detail, contract vinyl is one of the best wet-room floors available.
