About maintenance
The right cleaner extends a floor's useful life by 30–50%; the wrong one destroys it in months. Every hard floor has a specific pH tolerance and a list of banned chemistries. This category exists because generic supermarket floor cleaners strip finishes and void warranties on almost every modern floor.
Pros
- +Floor-specific cleaners preserve finish and warranty
- +Prolongs finish life by years vs generic cleaners
- +Restorer/oil products revive tired real-wood floors
Trade-offs
- −Wrong cleaner strips the finish — check the label match
- −Steam mops void almost every hard-floor warranty
FAQs
Can I use a steam mop?
Almost never. Heat and moisture at the click joints causes swelling and warranty invalidation on laminate, engineered wood, LVT and SPC. Damp-mop with a proper cleaner instead.
What household cleaners can I use?
Very few. Washing-up liquid is too alkaline. Vinegar is too acidic. Bleach strips finish. Stick to purpose-made pH-neutral cleaners.
